Iceni Velo is extremely active and successful in the Autumn/Winter sport of cyclo-cross, and it’s really easy for you to get involved too! We hold regular training sessions and take part in various age categories of the Eastern Cyclo-Cross League.
Cyclo-cross is essentially a faster and less technical version of mountain biking, and you can just use a mountain bike. You will ideally be riding a specialised ‘cross bike, which is basically a tweaked road bike with knobbly tyres.
Races for the under-12s are under 15 minutes long, but they’re usually quite puffed out in that time! For youths it’s 30 minutes, women and veterans (40+) are 40 minutes, and it’s a full hour (ouch!) for the seniors and juniors.
